| 7 | 7 | | relating to the repeal of certain obsolete laws governing state |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. FINDINGS. The legislature finds that certain |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | laws governing state pension and other benefits have become |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | obsolete and should no longer be included in the reported statutes |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of this state. These laws consist of: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) part of the enabling legislation for state |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | pensions for Confederate veterans and their surviving spouses; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) authorization of a state pension for veterans of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Texas Revolution and their surviving spouses; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (3) authorization of a state pension for certain Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Rangers who served before September 1, 1947, and their surviving |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | spouses; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (4) several statutes from the 1930s providing |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | transitional funding mechanisms and appropriations for the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | original Texas Old Age Assistance Fund. |

| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. REPEALER. The following provisions are |
|---|

| 47 | 47 | | SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members |

| 49 | 49 | | elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
