| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 572, Government Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 572.067 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 572.067. FORMER LEGISLATOR: CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT | |
| 12 | 12 | PROHIBITED. (a) A former member of the legislature may not, before | |
| 13 | 13 | the second anniversary of the date the last term for which the | |
| 14 | 14 | former member was elected ends, be | |
| 15 | 15 | employed by a state agency. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. Section 572.067, Government Code, as added by | |
| 17 | 17 | this Act, apply only to a member of the legislature who ceases to be | |
| 18 | 18 | a member on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
