| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 1579, Insurance Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 1579.2515 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 1579.2515. ADDITIONAL STATE ASSISTANCE. In addition | |
| 13 | 13 | to the amount contributed under Section 1579.251, the state shall | |
| 14 | 14 | assist employees of participating school districts, charter | |
| 15 | 15 | schools, regional education service centers, and educational | |
| 16 | 16 | districts described by Section 1579.002(5)(B) in the purchase of | |
| 17 | 17 | group health coverage under this chapter by providing for each | |
| 18 | 18 | covered employee the amount of $900 each state fiscal year or a | |
| 19 | 19 | greater amount as provided by the General Appropriations Act. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2017-2018 | |
| 21 | 21 | school year. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
