                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 1, 2017      TO: Honorable Phil King, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3051 by King, Phil (Relating to the categories used to record the race or ethnicity of persons stopped for or convicted of traffic offenses.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Transportation Code to include categories of race or ethnicity for persons stopped for or convicted of traffic offenses. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed in existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
