The bill relates to a study by the Geo-Technology Research Institute on the monitoring, prevention, and removal of floating trash. The bill would require the Geo-Technology Research Institute to conduct a study on the monitoring, prevention, and removal of floating trash and submit a report of its findings to the Eighty-sixth Legislature. According to the Texas A&M University System the provisions of the bill could be accomplished within existing resources. Additionally, The University of Texas System and the University of Houston System indicated the bill would have no fiscal impact to their component institutions.
