| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 61.9818, Education Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 61.9818. PROGRAM FUNDING. The program may be funded |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | [solely] from: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) gifts, grants, and donations solicited and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | accepted by the board for the purposes of this subchapter; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) fees collected to cover the costs of administering |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | programs or activities for speech-language pathologists and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | audiologists under Chapter 51, Occupations Code, in excess of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | money required to pay the expenses for the administration of those |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | programs or activities. |

| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. Section 51.202, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (d) Any money from fees collected by the department under |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | this chapter to cover the costs of administering programs or |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | activities for speech-language pathologists and audiologists that |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | remains after payment of the expenses for the administration of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | those programs or activities may be used to fund the loan repayment |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | program established under Subchapter II, Chapter 61, Education |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Code. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
