The bill would amend Chapter 1001 of the Health and Safety Code to include certain predominantly WIC program vendors as authorized vendors in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and prohibit certain requirements for predominantly WIC program vendors. Based on information provided by the Department of State Health Services, it is assumed that all duties and responsibilities necessary to implement the provisions of the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing staff and resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
