10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 21.259(b), Education Code, is amended to | |
12 | 12 | read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (b) The board of trustees or board subcommittee may adopt, | |
14 | 14 | reject, or change the hearing examiner's: | |
15 | 15 | (1) conclusions of law [, including a determination | |
16 | 16 | regarding good cause for suspension without pay or termination]; or | |
17 | 17 | (2) proposal for granting relief. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. Section 21.257(a-1), Education Code, is | |
19 | 19 | repealed. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
21 | 21 | a hearing before a hearing examiner held on or after the effective | |
22 | 22 | date of this Act. A hearing before a hearing examiner held before | |
23 | 23 | the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on | |
24 | 24 | the date of the hearing, and the former law is continued in effect | |
25 | 25 | for that purpose. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
