| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 303.0015(a), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | (a) A person shall establish a nursing peer review committee |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | to conduct nursing peer review under this chapter and Chapter 301: |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | (1) for vocational nurses, if the person regularly |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | employs, hires, or contracts for the services of eight [10] or more |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | nurses; and |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | (2) for professional nurses, if the person regularly |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | employs, hires, or contracts for the services of eight [10] or more |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | nurses, at least four [five] of whom are registered nurses. |

| 24 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
