55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the disclosure of public information relating to
88 expenditures for voter identification education.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 31.012, Election Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1212 (d) Information relating to an expenditure of public money
1313 on voter identification education under this section or under a
1414 court order relating to the identification requirements prescribed
1515 by Chapter 63 is public information and subject to disclosure under
1616 Chapter 552, Government Code, notwithstanding Section 552.101 or
1717 552.103, Government Code.
1818 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
