| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 31.012, Election Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (d) Information relating to an expenditure of public money | |
| 13 | 13 | on voter identification education under this section or under a | |
| 14 | 14 | court order relating to the identification requirements prescribed | |
| 15 | 15 | by Chapter 63 is public information and subject to disclosure under | |
| 16 | 16 | Chapter 552, Government Code, notwithstanding Section 552.101 or | |
| 17 | 17 | 552.103, Government Code. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
