| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 264.1211 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | Sec. 264.1211. RECORDS AND DOCUMENTS FOR CHILDREN AGING OUT |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | OF FOSTER CARE. The department in cooperation with volunteer |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | advocates from a charitable organization described by Subchapter C, |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | Chapter 107, and the Department of Public Safety shall develop |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | procedures to ensure that a foster child obtains a driver's license |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | or personal identification card before the child leaves the |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | conservatorship of the department. |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
