115 relating to the issuance of identification documentation for foster
126 care youth.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 264, Family Code, is
159 amended by adding Section 264.1211 to read as follows:
1610 Sec. 264.1211. RECORDS AND DOCUMENTS FOR CHILDREN AGING OUT
1711 OF FOSTER CARE. The department in cooperation with volunteer
1812 advocates from a charitable organization described by Subchapter C,
1913 Chapter 107, and the Department of Public Safety shall develop
2014 procedures to ensure that a foster child obtains a driver's license
2115 or personal identification card before the child leaves the
2216 conservatorship of the department.
2317 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2418 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2519 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2620 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2721 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
