66 AN ACT
77 relating to the suspension of annuity payments for certain former
88 legislators engaged in lobbying activities.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 812, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subchapter D to read as follows:
1212 SUBCHAPTER D. LOBBYING BY CERTAIN RETIREES
1313 Sec. 812.251. BENEFITS AFFECTED. If a retiree from the
1414 elected class of membership who is a former member of the
1515 legislature engages in lobbying activities that require
1616 registration under Chapter 305, the retirement system shall suspend
1717 annuity payments to the person for service that was credited in that
1818 class, until the person ceases to be engaged in lobbying activities
1919 and files a notice of termination as prescribed by Section 305.008.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
