| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 1301.151(a), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners consists of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | nine members appointed by the governor with the advice and consent |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of the senate as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) one member who has at least 10 years' practical |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | experience and is licensed as a master plumber; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) one member who has at least five years' practical |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | experience and is licensed as a journeyman plumber; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) one member who has at least five years' practical |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | experience and is licensed as a master plumber or journeyman |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | plumber; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (4) one member who has at least five years' practical |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | experience and is licensed as a plumbing inspector; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (5) [(4)] one member who has been a responsible master |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | plumber for at least five years with at least 10 years' experience |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | as a licensed journeyman plumber or master plumber; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (6) [(5)] one member who is a licensed engineer |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | practicing in the field of plumbing engineering; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (7) [(6)] two members who are building contractors |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | with at least five years' contracting experience, one of whom is |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | principally engaged in home building and one of whom is principally |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | engaged in commercial building; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (8) one member who represents [(7) two members who |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | represent] the public. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 1301.151, Occupations Code, regarding the composition of the Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | State Board of Plumbing Examiners does not affect the entitlement |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | of a member serving on the board immediately before the effective |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | date of this Act to continue to serve as a member of the board for |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | the remainder of the member's term. As the terms of board members |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | who represent the public expire or as a vacancy occurs on the board |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | for a position held by a member who represents the public, the |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | governor shall appoint a member to the board as necessary to comply |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | with Section 1301.151, Occupations Code, as amended by this Act. |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
