55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the membership of the Texas State Board of Plumbing
88 Examiners.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 1301.151(a), Occupations Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners consists of
1313 nine members appointed by the governor with the advice and consent
1414 of the senate as follows:
1515 (1) one member who has at least 10 years' practical
1616 experience and is licensed as a master plumber;
1717 (2) one member who has at least five years' practical
1818 experience and is licensed as a journeyman plumber;
1919 (3) one member who has at least five years' practical
2020 experience and is licensed as a master plumber or journeyman
2121 plumber;
2222 (4) one member who has at least five years' practical
2323 experience and is licensed as a plumbing inspector;
2424 (5) [(4)] one member who has been a responsible master
2525 plumber for at least five years with at least 10 years' experience
2626 as a licensed journeyman plumber or master plumber;
2727 (6) [(5)] one member who is a licensed engineer
2828 practicing in the field of plumbing engineering;
2929 (7) [(6)] two members who are building contractors
3030 with at least five years' contracting experience, one of whom is
3131 principally engaged in home building and one of whom is principally
3232 engaged in commercial building; and
3333 (8) one member who represents [(7) two members who
3434 represent] the public.
3535 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section
3636 1301.151, Occupations Code, regarding the composition of the Texas
3737 State Board of Plumbing Examiners does not affect the entitlement
3838 of a member serving on the board immediately before the effective
3939 date of this Act to continue to serve as a member of the board for
4040 the remainder of the member's term. As the terms of board members
4141 who represent the public expire or as a vacancy occurs on the board
4242 for a position held by a member who represents the public, the
4343 governor shall appoint a member to the board as necessary to comply
4444 with Section 1301.151, Occupations Code, as amended by this Act.
4545 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
