66 AN ACT
77 relating to the insurance requirement applicable to a guard company

99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 1702.124, Occupations Code, is amended
1111 by amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (c-1) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (c) Except as provided by Subsection (c-1), the [The]
1414 insurance policy must contain minimum limits of:
1515 (1) $100,000 for each occurrence for bodily injury and
1616 property damage;
1717 (2) $50,000 for each occurrence for personal injury;
1818 and
1919 (3) a total aggregate amount of $200,000 for all
2020 occurrences.
2121 (c-1) If the application is for a license to act as a guard
2222 company, the insurance policy must contain minimum limits of:
2323 (1) $1 million for each occurrence for bodily injury
2424 and property damage;
2525 (2) $1 million for each occurrence for personal
2626 injury; and
2727 (3) a total aggregate amount of $2 million for all
2828 occurrences.
2929 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
3030 to an applicant for or holder of a license under Chapter 1702,
3131 Occupations Code, on or after January 1, 2018.
3232 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
