6	6	AN ACT
7	7	relating to certain fees collected by a justice court.
8	8	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
9	9	SECTION 1. The heading to Subchapter H, Chapter 101,
10	10	Government Code, is amended to read as follows:
11	11	SUBCHAPTER H. JUSTICE COURTS [AND SMALL CLAIMS COURTS]
12	12	SECTION 2. The heading to Section 101.141, Government Code,
13	13	is amended to read as follows:
14	14	Sec. 101.141. JUSTICE COURT [AND SMALL CLAIMS COURT] FEES
15	15	AND COSTS COLLECTED BY CLERK.
16	16	SECTION 3. The heading to Section 101.151, Government Code,
17	17	is amended to read as follows:
18	18	Sec. 101.151. JUSTICE COURT [AND SMALL CLAIMS COURT] FEES
19	19	COLLECTED BY JUSTICE OF THE PEACE.
20	20	SECTION 4. Section 101.151(a), Government Code, is amended
21	21	to read as follows:
22	22	(a) A justice of the peace shall collect the following fees
23	23	under the Local Government Code:
24	24	(1) services rendered before judgment (Secs. 118.121
25	25	and 118.122, Local Government Code) [:
26	26	[(A) justice court (Sec. 118.121, Local
27	27	Government Code)] . . . $125 [$25]; and
28	28	[(B) small claims court (Sec. 118.121, Local

30	30	(2) services rendered after judgment (Secs. 118.121

34	34	(B) abstract of judgment (Sec. 118.121, Local

65	65	SECTION 6. The change in law made by this Act applies only
66	66	to a cause of action filed on or after the effective date of this
67	67	Act. A cause of action filed before the effective date of this Act
68	68	is governed by the law in effect immediately before the effective
69	69	date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that
70	70	purpose.
71	71	SECTION 7. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
