55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to an exemption from the plumbing licensing law for public
88 service companies working on certain private property.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 1301, Occupations Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 1301.059 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 1301.059. PLUMBING BY PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANIES ON
1313 CERTAIN PRIVATE PROPERTY. A person is not required to be licensed
1414 under this chapter to perform plumbing work on behalf of a public
1515 service company if the person is a public service company or a
1616 contractor of a public service company who performs plumbing,
1717 including the installation, service, or repair of service mains,
1818 service lines, appurtenances, equipment, or appliances that
1919 provide water, sewer, storm drainage, or gas services, on private
2020 property in an area that extends from a public easement to not less
2121 than five feet from a building or structure.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
