12 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 33, Education Code, is | |
14 | 11 | amended by adding Section 33.095 to read as follows: | |
15 | 12 | Sec. 33.095. CARDIAC ASSESSMENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL | |
16 | 13 | PARTICIPANTS IN EXTRACURRICULAR ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES. (a) A school | |
17 | 14 | district must require a district student who is required under | |
18 | 15 | University Interscholastic League rule or policy to receive a | |
19 | 16 | physical examination before being allowed to participate in an | |
20 | 17 | athletic activity sponsored or sanctioned by the University | |
21 | 18 | Interscholastic League to also have administered to the student an | |
22 | - | electrocardiogram or echocardiogram before being allowed to | |
23 | - | participate in the activity, including a practice for the activity, | |

41 | - | nonprofit entity to provide electrocardiograms or echocardiograms; | |

43 | - | (2) elect to pay for the costs of administering | |
