| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. (a) The legislature finds that the Interstate | |
| 11 | 11 | Highway 635 East project is important to this state, aligns with the | |
| 12 | 12 | state's transportation policy, and provides an effective means of | |
| 13 | 13 | transportation. | |
| 14 | 14 | (b) Not later than December 1, 2018, the Texas Department of | |
| 15 | 15 | Transportation shall provide a report to the Texas Transportation | |
| 16 | 16 | Commission on the status of the Interstate Highway 635 East project | |
| 17 | 17 | from U.S. Highway 75 to Royal Lane/Miller Road. The report must | |
| 18 | 18 | include: | |
| 19 | 19 | (1) the status of the project's environmental | |
| 20 | 20 | clearance; | |
| 21 | 21 | (2) an explanation of any project delays; and | |
| 22 | 22 | (3) if the procurement is not completed, the | |
| 23 | 23 | anticipated date for the completion of the procurement. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 25 | 25 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 26 | 26 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 27 | 27 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 28 | 28 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
