9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 301.157(d-2), Occupations Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (d-2) The board shall calculate for each calendar year the | |
13 | 13 | pass rate on applicable licensing examinations under this chapter | |
14 | 14 | for a school of nursing or educational program. If for the | |
15 | 15 | preceding three years the percentage of graduates of a school of | |
16 | 16 | nursing or educational program who pass the applicable licensing | |
17 | 17 | examination on the first try within six months of graduating from | |
18 | 18 | the school or completing the program is 80 percent or more, the | |
19 | 19 | school or program is considered to maintain an acceptable pass | |
20 | 20 | rate. A school of nursing or educational program that fails to meet | |
21 | 21 | or maintain an acceptable pass rate on applicable licensing | |
22 | 22 | examinations under this chapter is subject to review by the | |
23 | 23 | board. The board may assist the school or program in its effort to | |
24 | 24 | achieve compliance with the board's standards. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2018. |
