| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 442, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 442.033 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 442.033. MUNICIPAL PROJECTS. (a) The commission shall | |
| 13 | 13 | establish a program to assist municipalities in projects to | |
| 14 | 14 | construct, repair, restore, and maintain buildings necessary for | |
| 15 | 15 | the governance, health, and safety of the residents of the | |
| 16 | 16 | municipality, including city halls and fire department facilities. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) The commission may solicit gifts, donations, and grants | |
| 18 | 18 | of money or property from any public or private source to be used | |
| 19 | 19 | for the purposes of this section. | |
| 20 | 20 | (c) A municipality may apply to the commission in the manner | |
| 21 | 21 | required by the commission for assistance with a project under this | |
| 22 | 22 | section. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
