9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 2051, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 2051.054 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 2051.054. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION ON INTERNET FOR | |
13 | 13 | CERTAIN MUNICIPALITIES WITH NO NEWSPAPER. (a) This section | |
14 | 14 | applies only to a municipality: | |
15 | 15 | (1) that has a population of 25,000 or less; and | |
16 | 16 | (2) in which no newspaper is published. | |
17 | 17 | (b) A municipality may satisfy a requirement in any other | |
18 | 18 | law to provide notice by publication in a newspaper by posting the | |
19 | 19 | notice on its Internet website beginning on the earliest date | |
20 | 20 | provided for in the requirement and continuing until the day after | |
21 | 21 | the date the action for which notice was required occurs. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
