 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the sale of mobility motor vehicles by certain dealers.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 2301, Occupations Code, is
 amended by adding Section 2301.2521 to read as follows:
 Sec. 2301.2521.  SALE OF NEW MOTOR VEHICLES BY CERTAIN
 DEALERS. Notwithstanding Section 2301.252(a), a person who holds a
 franchised dealer's license issued under this chapter may sell a
 new mobility motor vehicle that is a conversion, regardless of
 whether the person is a franchisee for the make of the motor vehicle
 that was converted, if the person obtains the new mobility motor
 vehicle from an independent mobility motor vehicle dealer operating
 in a county that borders Lake Palestine and has a population of more
 than 200,000.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
