| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 41, Education Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 41.0933 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 41.0933. REDUCTION FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS | |
| 14 | 14 | COSTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a | |
| 15 | 15 | school district that executes an agreement to purchase all | |
| 16 | 16 | attendance credits necessary to reduce the district's wealth per | |
| 17 | 17 | student to the equalized wealth level may reduce the total amount | |
| 18 | 18 | required to be paid for attendance credits under Section 41.093 by | |
| 19 | 19 | 25 percent. | |
| 20 | 20 | (b) A reduction under Subsection (a) shall be made after | |
| 21 | 21 | making any reduction to which the district is entitled under | |
| 22 | 22 | Section 41.0931, 41.097, or 41.098 or another provision of this | |
| 23 | 23 | chapter. | |
| 24 | 24 | (c) The district shall use amounts available to the district | |
| 25 | 25 | as a result of this section to pay district maintenance and | |
| 26 | 26 | operations costs. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
