| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 54.1951, Government Code, is amended to | |

| 11 | 11 | Sec. 54.1951. APPLICATION OF SUBCHAPTER. This subchapter | |
| 12 | 12 | applies to a constitutional county court in a county that: | |
| 13 | 13 | (1) has a population of more than 285,000 [585,000]; | |
| 14 | 14 | and | |
| 15 | 15 | (2) is contiguous to a county with a population of at | |
| 16 | 16 | least four million. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
