| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 301, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 301.035 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 301.035. SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION OF COMMITTEE |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | HEARING. The chair of a committee of the legislature must provide |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | professional simultaneous translation from English to Spanish of a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | public hearing of the committee if a person requests the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | translation in writing to the chair not later than the third day |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | before the date of the hearing. |

| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 51, Local Government Code, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | is amended by adding Section 51.004 to read as follows: |

| 22 | 22 | | Sec. 51.004. SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION OF PUBLIC MEETING OF |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | GOVERNING BODY. The governing body of a municipality must provide |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | professional simultaneous translation from English to Spanish of a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | public meeting of the governing body if a person requests the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | translation in writing to the municipal secretary or clerk not |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | later than the third day before the date of the meeting. |

| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 3. Subchapter B, Chapter 81, Local Government Code, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | is amended by adding Section 81.031 to read as follows: |

| 30 | 30 | | Sec. 81.031. SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION OF MEETING OF |

| 31 | 31 | | COMMISSIONERS COURT. A commissioners court must provide |
