7 | 7 | relating to the placement of certain highway signs that promote | |
8 | 8 | businesses or provide other information. | |
9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 391.092, Transportation Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | by adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (d-1) Rules adopted under this section may not allow the | |
13 | 13 | placement of a specific information logo sign, major shopping area | |
14 | 14 | guide sign, or tourist-oriented directional sign at a location that | |
15 | 15 | is: | |
16 | 16 | (1) in an area that is subject to a municipal ordinance | |
17 | 17 | that designates the area as a "Hill Country Scenic Roadway | |
18 | 18 | Corridor"; and | |
19 | 19 | (2) along a highway that has an annual average daily | |
20 | 20 | traffic volume of fewer than 100,000 vehicles. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
22 | 22 | to a sign for which the Texas Department of Transportation enters | |
23 | 23 | into a contract or agreement or renews a contract or agreement on or | |
24 | 24 | after the effective date of this Act. A contract or agreement | |
25 | 25 | entered into or renewed before the effective date of this Act is | |
26 | 26 | governed by the law in effect immediately before that date, and that | |
27 | 27 | law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
