The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to grant immunity from civil liability to any property owner, lessee, or manager that has the authority to ban the licensed possession of handguns on the premises but chooses not to do so. That immunity would extend to any claim based on the owner's failure to ban such possession. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. The Office of Court Administration (OCA) anticipates no significant fiscal implications to state and local government from the provisions of the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
