9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 178, Local Government Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | by adding Subchapter Z to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | SUBCHAPTER Z. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 178.901. REMOVAL OF DIRECTORS APPOINTED BY | |
14 | 14 | MUNICIPALITY TO CERTAIN BOARDS. Notwithstanding any other law, a | |
15 | 15 | director of a conservation and reclamation district created under | |
16 | 16 | Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, who is appointed by | |
17 | 17 | the governing body of a municipality, serves at the pleasure of the | |
18 | 18 | governing body and may be removed by the governing body at any time | |
19 | 19 | without cause. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
