| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 42.012(b), Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (b) The commission may set a lower fee or waive the fee or |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | license requirement for a resident who is under 17 years old, 65 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | years old or older, or participating in an event that is sponsored |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | or cosponsored [co-sponsored] by the [Texas] Parks and Wildlife |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Department with the approval of the executive director. The |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | commission shall waive the fee for: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (1) a qualified disabled veteran; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) [and for] a resident on active duty as a member of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the United States military forces, the Texas Army National Guard, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas State Guard; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (3) a deputy game warden or a special game warden on |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | active status. |

| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Section 46.004(c), Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (c) The commission shall waive the fee for: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (1) a qualified disabled veteran as defined by Section |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 42.012; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (2) [and for] a resident on active duty as a member of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the United States military forces, the Texas Army National Guard, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas State Guard; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (3) a deputy game warden or a special game warden on |

| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 3. Section 50.002, Parks and Wildlife Code, is |

| 35 | 35 | | amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |

| 36 | 36 | | (c) The commission shall waive the fee for an annual |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | combination resident hunting and fishing license for a deputy game |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | warden or a special game warden on active status. |

| 39 | 39 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
