1311 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1412 SECTION 1. Chapter 302, Labor Code, is amended by adding
1513 Subchapter H to read as follows:
1614 SUBCHAPTER H. VETERAN EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE DATABASE
1715 Sec. 302.201. DEFINITION. In this subchapter, "veteran"
1816 has the meaning assigned by 38 U.S.C. Section 101(2).
1917 Sec. 302.202. DATABASE. (a) The commission shall develop
2018 and maintain or make available a web-based searchable database
2119 through which prospective employers may qualify a veteran's:
2220 (1) military service experience; and
2321 (2) employment qualifications related to specific
2422 skills.
2523 (b) The database must allow the conversion of a veteran's
2624 military service experience into the approximate equivalent
2725 civilian employment experience and skills that the veteran
2826 possesses by virtue of that service.
2927 (c) The database may not collect, retrieve, store, or use
3028 any identifying information of a veteran. In this subsection,
3129 "identifying information" has the meaning assigned by Section
3230 32.51, Penal Code.
3331 Sec. 302.203. RULES. The commission may adopt rules to
3432 implement this subchapter.
3533 SECTION 2. The Texas Workforce Commission shall develop and
3634 maintain or make available the veteran employment experience
3735 database as required by Subchapter H, Chapter 302, Labor Code, as
3836 added by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date
3937 of this Act.
4038 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4139 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4240 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4341 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4442 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
