99 relating to a waiver of fees for foster care and homeless youth for
1010 driver's licenses and personal identification certificates.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 521, Transportation Code,
1313 is amended by adding Section 521.1015 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 521.1015. WAIVER OF FEES FOR FOSTER CARE AND HOMELESS
1515 YOUTH. A person is exempt from the payment of any fee for the
1616 issuance of a personal identification certificate, as provided
1717 under this chapter, if that person is:
1818 (1) younger than 18 years of age and in the managing
1919 conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective
2020 Services;
2121 (2) at least 18 years of age, but younger than 21 years
2222 of age, and resides in a foster care placement, the cost of which is
2323 paid by the Department of Family and Protective Services; or
2424 (3) a homeless child or youth, as defined by 42 U.S.C.
2525 Section 11434a.
2626 SECTION 2. Section 521.1811, Transportation Code, is
2727 amended to read as follows:
2828 Sec. 521.1811. WAIVER OF FEES FOR FOSTER CARE AND HOMELESS
2929 YOUTH. A person is exempt from the payment of any fee for the
3030 issuance of a driver's license, as provided under this chapter, if
3131 that person is:
3232 (1) younger than 18 years of age and in the managing
3333 conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective
3434 Services; [or]
3535 (2) at least 18 years of age, but younger than 21 years
3636 of age, and resides in a foster care placement, the cost of which is
3737 paid by the Department of Family and Protective Services; or
3838 (3) a homeless child or youth, as defined by 42 U.S.C.
3939 Section 11434a.
4040 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
