55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the small and mid-sized district adjustments under the
88 Foundation School Program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 42.103, Education Code, is amended by
1111 amending Subsections (b), (c), and (d) and adding Subsection (c-1)
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (b) The basic allotment of a school district that contains
1414 at least 300 square miles and has not more than 1,600 students in
1515 average daily attendance is adjusted by applying the formula:
1616 AA = (1 + ((1,600 - ADA) X .0005 [.0004])) X ABA
1717 (c) The basic allotment of a school district that contains
1818 at least 150 square miles but less than 300 square miles and has not
1919 more than 1,600 students in average daily attendance is adjusted by
2020 applying the formula:
2121 AA = (1 + ((1,600 - ADA) X .00035 [.00025])) X ABA
2222 (c-1) The basic allotment of a school district that contains
2323 less than 150 square miles and has not more than 1,600 students in
2424 average daily attendance is adjusted by applying the formula:
2525 AA = (1 + ((1,600 - ADA) X .0003)) X ABA
2626 (d) The basic allotment of a school district that offers a
2727 kindergarten through grade 12 program and has less than 5,000
2828 students in average daily attendance is adjusted by applying the
2929 formula, of the following formulas, that results in the greatest
3030 adjusted allotment:
3131 (1) the formula in Subsection (b), [or] (c), or (c-1)
3232 for which the district is eligible; or
3333 (2) AA = (1 + ((5,000 - ADA) X .000025)) X ABA.
3434 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
