| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 32.1011, Family Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (a) or Section 32.003 or | |
| 13 | 13 | 32.101, a child may consent to the child's own immunization for | |
| 14 | 14 | cancer prevention or treatment if the immunization is: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) recommended for cancer prevention by the Centers | |
| 16 | 16 | for Disease Control and Prevention; or | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) approved for cancer treatment by the United States | |
| 18 | 18 | Food and Drug Administration. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
