| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission |

| 7 | 7 | | is working to establish a new memorial park in Conroe in honor of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | all veterans of the U.S. armed forces, especially those from |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Montgomery County; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, While the downtown area of Conroe already features a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | veterans memorial park, the property is incapable of further |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | upgrades or expansion; the commission's desired site for the new |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | memorial is located on land owned by the City of Conroe and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | State of Texas, adjacent to the intersection of Interstate 45 and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | State Highway 105, and the group has secured the cooperation of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | municipal and county governments for the installation; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe an immeasurable debt to the men and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | women who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | through its worthwhile efforts, the Montgomery County Veterans |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Memorial Commission is helping to ensure that their bravery and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | heroism are remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | hereby urge the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Historical Commission, the Texas Veterans Commission, and all other |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | appropriate state agencies to offer full aid and support to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission in its mission to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | establish a new veterans memorial in Conroe; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward official |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | copies of this resolution to the chairs of the boards and the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | executive directors of the Texas Department of Transportation, the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Texas Historical Commission, and the Texas Veterans Commission as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | expressions of the sentiment of the Texas Legislature. |
