 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Artist Colin Kimball was presented with the
 Distinguished Citizen Medal by the John F. Greer Chapter of the
 Daughters of the American Revolution at a ceremony in Melissa on May
 21, 2016; and
 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Kimball is a
 gifted portrait artist who specializes in creating paintings of
 fallen American servicemen and -women; working from his own
 research, he creates stirring representations of military
 personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty; and
 WHEREAS, In 2013, Mr. Kimball and Marine Corps veteran Ronnie
 Foster created the Collin County Fallen Warriors Portrait Project,
 and Mr. Kimball embarked upon a mission to paint every member of the
 armed forces from the area who died in service to their country,
 from World War I to the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; as
 of Veterans Day 2016, he had created 42 portraits, which are proudly
 displayed on the Fallen Warriors Wall of Patriotism in the Collin
 County Courthouse; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Kimball's work has also been exhibited at
 military bases at Quantico, Virginia, and Vincenza, Italy, as well
 as at The University of Texas at Austin, and he has published a book
 of his portraits, Currency of Honor; a resident of McKinney, he
 serves as historian of Bill Bryan Post No. 110 of the American
 Legion and as a member of the McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board
 and the Veterans Selection Committee of the Smiles Charity; and
 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to those
 men and women who answer their nation's call to duty, and Colin
 Kimball's creative and heartfelt efforts to honor those who have
 made the ultimate sacrifice are truly deserving of this special
 recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby congratulate Colin Kimball on his receipt of a Distinguished
 Citizen Medal from the Daughters of the American Revolution and
 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his
 important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Kimball as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
