56 WHEREAS, Artist Colin Kimball was presented with the
67 Distinguished Citizen Medal by the John F. Greer Chapter of the
78 Daughters of the American Revolution at a ceremony in Melissa on May
89 21, 2016; and
910 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Kimball is a
1011 gifted portrait artist who specializes in creating paintings of
1112 fallen American servicemen and -women; working from his own
1213 research, he creates stirring representations of military
1314 personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty; and
1415 WHEREAS, In 2013, Mr. Kimball and Marine Corps veteran Ronnie
1516 Foster created the Collin County Fallen Warriors Portrait Project,
1617 and Mr. Kimball embarked upon a mission to paint every member of the
1718 armed forces from the area who died in service to their country,
1819 from World War I to the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; as
1920 of Veterans Day 2016, he had created 42 portraits, which are proudly
2021 displayed on the Fallen Warriors Wall of Patriotism in the Collin
2122 County Courthouse; and
2223 WHEREAS, Mr. Kimball's work has also been exhibited at
2324 military bases at Quantico, Virginia, and Vincenza, Italy, as well
2425 as at The University of Texas at Austin, and he has published a book
2526 of his portraits, Currency of Honor; a resident of McKinney, he
2627 serves as historian of Bill Bryan Post No. 110 of the American
2728 Legion and as a member of the McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board
2829 and the Veterans Selection Committee of the Smiles Charity; and
2930 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to those
3031 men and women who answer their nation's call to duty, and Colin
3132 Kimball's creative and heartfelt efforts to honor those who have
3233 made the ultimate sacrifice are truly deserving of this special
3334 recognition; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
3536 hereby congratulate Colin Kimball on his receipt of a Distinguished
3637 Citizen Medal from the Daughters of the American Revolution and
3738 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his
3839 important work; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for Mr. Kimball as an expression of high regard by the
4142 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
