9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Carl Isett was commissioned an officer in the U.S. |

10 | 11 | | Navy Reserve Supply Corps Program in April 1991, and he went on to |

11 | 12 | | graduate from the Basic Qualification Course at the Navy Supply |
---|
12 | 13 | | Corps School in Athens, Georgia, in April 1993; his initial |
---|
13 | 14 | | assignments included service as an executive officer for the |
---|
14 | 15 | | Defense Distribution Depot Oakland Headquarters Unit in Lubbock and |
---|
15 | 16 | | as officer in charge for detachments in Lubbock and Austin; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Captain Isett gained extensive experience in |
---|
17 | 18 | | theater logistics in Southeast Asia, through his participation in |
---|
18 | 19 | | exercises in such locations as Thailand and Singapore; in his |
---|
19 | 20 | | stateside assignments in the early 2000s, he served as commanding |
---|
20 | 21 | | officer of distribution and supply centers in Denver and Oklahoma |
---|
21 | 22 | | City, and in his role as commanding officer for Naval Supply |
---|
22 | 23 | | Activity Bahrain, Detachment B, in San Antonio, he supported the |
---|
23 | 24 | | navy's major logistical hub in the Persian Gulf; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In 2006, Captain Isett was deployed with the Navy |
---|
25 | 26 | | Customs Battalion QUEBEC to serve as executive officer overseeing |
---|
26 | 27 | | nearly 400 sailors in Kuwait and Iraq; during his second active duty |
---|
27 | 28 | | deployment, from June 2011 to March 2012, he led the Defense |
---|
28 | 29 | | Logistics Agency Distribution in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the first |
---|
29 | 30 | | and only facility of its kind to be located within an active theater |
---|
30 | 31 | | of war; he subsequently completed additional duty in Denver and in |
---|
31 | 32 | | San Diego, and he concluded his tenure by serving as the commanding |
---|
32 | 33 | | officer of Navy Reserve Force Korea, Detachment F, in Fort Worth; |

33 | 34 | | and |
---|
34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished officer is the recipient of the |
---|
35 | 36 | | Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Meritorious Service |
---|
36 | 37 | | Medal with gold star, the Navy Commendation Medal with gold star, |
---|
37 | 38 | | and the Navy Achievement Medal with gold star; and |
---|
38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Tech University, Captain Isett |
---|
39 | 40 | | holds a bachelor of business administration degree with a double |
---|
40 | 41 | | major in accounting and finance as well as a master's degree in |
---|
41 | 42 | | finance; in addition to his service as a reserve officer and as the |
---|
42 | 43 | | representative for House District 84 in the Texas Legislature from |
---|
43 | 44 | | 1997 to 2010, he has been employed as a certified public accountant |
---|
44 | 45 | | and a consultant; and |
---|
45 | 46 | | WHEREAS, Carl Isett's commitment to upholding the highest |
---|
46 | 47 | | ideals of the U.S. military has earned him the respect and |
---|
47 | 48 | | admiration of his fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with |
---|
48 | 49 | | considerable pride on his outstanding efforts in behalf of his |
---|
49 | 50 | | state and nation; now, therefore, be it |
---|
50 | 51 | | RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
51 | 52 | | hereby honor Carl H. Isett on the event of his retirement from the |
---|
52 | 53 | | U.S. Navy Reserve and commend him for 26 years of distinguished |
---|
53 | 54 | | military service; and, be it further |

54 | 55 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

55 | 56 | | prepared for Captain Isett as an expression of high regard by the |
