| 10 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In recent years, the town of Spurger has become a |

| 11 | 6 | | state and national center for knives and knife enthusiasts thanks |

| 12 | 7 | | to the efforts of a local company, Texas Knives and Collectibles; |

|---|
| 14 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded by Spurger businessman Marvin Mott, TKC has |
|---|
| 15 | 10 | | grown since the 1990s into one of the state and nation's largest |
|---|
| 16 | 11 | | retailers of knives from the W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company of |
|---|
| 17 | 12 | | Bradford, Pennsylvania, and other well-known knife manufacturers, |
|---|
| 18 | 13 | | earning the coveted Master Dealer designation from Case; and |
|---|
| 19 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The store's extensive inventory includes such |
|---|
| 20 | 15 | | collectible special edition knives as the Texas Ranger Company "A" |
|---|
| 21 | 16 | | knife and the Spurger School Brick Trapper, which features a handle |
|---|
| 22 | 17 | | made from the bricks of the historic Spurger High School; and |
|---|
| 23 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This unique enterprise has also become a destination |

| 24 | 19 | | for visitors to Spurger from across the state and nation by staging |
|---|
| 25 | 20 | | the annual Case Historian and Ambassador Tour, which includes knife |
|---|
| 26 | 21 | | exhibits, a fast-draw competition, and an Old West Show performed |

| 27 | 22 | | by living history reenactors; and |
|---|
| 28 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Handsome, handcrafted knives have played an |
|---|
| 29 | 24 | | important role in the history and culture of the Lone Star State, |
|---|
| 30 | 25 | | and by celebrating this proud heritage, Texas Knives and |
|---|
| 31 | 26 | | Collectibles and the community of Spurger are helping to preserve |
|---|
| 32 | 27 | | and promote a notable Texas legacy; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 34 | 29 | | hereby designate Spurger as the official Knife Capital of Texas; |
