1614 the State of Texas; and
1715 WHEREAS, The colors of the Chilean flag depict sky, snow, and
1816 blood spilled while fighting for freedom, but the blue, white, and

2018 purity, and bravery; and
2119 WHEREAS, The single star of the Chilean flag, positioned in a
2220 blue canton, has been seen by some as a guide to progress and honor,

3129 broadmindedness; and
3230 WHEREAS, The third flag adopted by the Republic of Texas, the
3331 Lone Star Flag has a grand history, and just as our flag could never

3533 inspire feelings of pride and passion in the heart of a true Texan;
3634 now, therefore, be it
3735 RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
3836 hereby reject the notion that the Chilean flag, although it is a

4038 official state flag of Texas and urge all Texans not to use the
4139 Republic of Chile flag emoji in digital forums when referring to the
4240 Lone Star Flag of the great State of Texas.
