| 9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 30(b), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (b) The Texas Energy [When a Railroad] Commission [is | |
| 13 | 13 | created by law it] shall be composed of three Commissioners who | |
| 14 | 14 | shall be elected by the people at a general election for State | |
| 15 | 15 | officers, and their terms of office shall be six years. And one | |
| 16 | 16 | [Railroad] Commissioner shall be elected every two years. In case | |
| 17 | 17 | of vacancy in said office the Governor of the State shall fill said | |
| 18 | 18 | vacancy by appointment until the next general election. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
| 20 | 20 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2017. | |
| 21 | 21 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
| 22 | 22 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment to change the name of | |
| 23 | 23 | the Railroad Commission of Texas to the Texas Energy Commission and | |
| 24 | 24 | to mandate that there be such an agency." |
