8 | 8 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | adding Section 35 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 35. The right of the people to own, hold, and use a | |
12 | 12 | mutually agreed upon medium of exchange, including cash, coin, | |
13 | 13 | bullion, digital currency, or scrip, when trading and contracting | |
14 | 14 | for goods and services shall not be infringed. No government shall | |
15 | 15 | prohibit or encumber the ownership or holding of any form or amount | |
16 | 16 | of money or other currency. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
18 | 18 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2017. | |
19 | 19 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
20 | 20 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment recognizing the right | |
21 | 21 | of the people to own, hold, and use a mutually agreed upon medium of | |
22 | 22 | exchange, including cash, coin, bullion, digital currency, or | |
23 | 23 | privately issued scrip." |
