| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Coby Lee Roy Slaughter of Wink |

| 6 | 7 | | on September 7, 2016, at the age of 36, is a tragic loss to his |

| 7 | 8 | | family, his fellow firefighters, and the community he served; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on August 20, 1980, in Kermit, Coby Slaughter |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | was the son of Russ Slaughter and Julie Davis Flores and the older |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | brother of four siblings, Casie, Cayla, Tate, and TyAnn; he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | graduated in 1999 from Wink High School, where he earned All-State |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | honors as a lineman on the Wildcats football team; he subsequently |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | enlisted in the United States Army, but a medical issue forced him |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | to cut his military career short and return home with an honorable |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | discharge; still committed to his dream of serving others, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Mr. Slaughter joined the Wink Volunteer Fire Department, where he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | was a member for nearly 20 years; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A hard worker at every task he took on, |

| 19 | 20 | | Mr. Slaughter made his living in the oilfields and demonstrated a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | special affinity for machines of all kinds; his greatest passion, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | however, was the cowboy way of life, and he found himself truly in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | his element while riding horses and roping cattle; for the last |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | eight years, he operated the family-owned trucking and disposal |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | business, S&W Enterprises, and he also helped out on family ranches |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | in Wink and Pyote; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Slaughter married the love of his life, Kama, in |

| 27 | 28 | | 2011, and he took great pride in his six children, Makaila, Ethan, |

| 28 | 29 | | Emilee, Remington, Landree, and Laramie; his warm smile and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | friendly demeanor endeared him readily to others, and despite his |

| 30 | 31 | | active schedule, he never hesitated to lend assistance to those in |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Although his time on this earth was far too brief, |

| 33 | 34 | | those who were privileged to know Coby Slaughter will forever find |
