| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Jack |

| 6 | 7 | | Lewis Walker Jr. of Nacogdoches, who passed away on January 7, 2017, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on November 21, 1947, in San Antonio, Jackie |

| 9 | 10 | | Walker was raised in Douglass by his grandparents, Farris and Faye |

| 10 | 11 | | Walker; after graduating from Douglass High School in 1966, he |

| 11 | 12 | | served his country in Vietnam as part of the U.S. Army 196th Light |

| 12 | 13 | | Infantry Brigade, earning a Bronze Star Medal for valor; he later |

| 13 | 14 | | attended Stephen F. Austin State University and went on to |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | establish his own business, Venture Construction Company, where he |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | enjoyed a successful 35-year career; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Walker was a member of |

| 17 | 18 | | the Nacogdoches Veterans of Foreign Wars post, the Cushing Masonic |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Lodge, and the 196th Organization; he was also a valued congregant |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | of Redeemer Lutheran Church; in his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | gardening, and cultivating wildflowers; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Walker married the love of his life, the former |

| 22 | 23 | | Mary Beth Hash, at a ceremony held in Longview on March 5, 1975; in |

| 23 | 24 | | the course of a rewarding marriage that spanned 41 years, they |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | became the proud parents of a son, Shawn; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Although Jackie Walker will be deeply missed, those |

| 26 | 27 | | who held him dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness he |

| 27 | 28 | | brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jack Lewis Walker |
