| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Crossroads Church in Rowlett held its most recent |

| 6 | 7 | | Serve Day on February 19, 2017, and this occasion provides a welcome |

| 7 | 8 | | opportunity to recognize the church for its contributions to the |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Several times each year, Crossroads Church |

| 10 | 11 | | congregants gather to undertake a variety of projects for the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | benefit of other local organizations and nonprofits and the people |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | they serve; on February 19, approximately 300 church members |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | organized themselves into teams to work at a senior care center and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | at three facilities associated with a shelter for victims of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | domestic violence; teams completed painting, repairing, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | organizing, and deep-cleaning tasks at the shelter's outreach |

| 17 | 18 | | office, emergency shelter, and food pantry and made art and played |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | games with residents at the senior care center; other Serve Day |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | ventures have included a variety of building and maintenance work; |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, By giving so generously of their time and efforts, |

| 22 | 23 | | the members of Crossroads Church of Rowlett have made a positive and |

| 23 | 24 | | lasting impact in their community, and it is indeed fitting that |

| 24 | 25 | | they be honored for their service; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend Crossroads Church for its generous |

| 27 | 28 | | assistance to Rowlett-area organizations and nonprofits and extend |
