45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jeffrey Patrick Morris is stepping down as the state
67 chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas at the group's 37th annual
78 state convention on April 8, 2017, drawing to a close more than five
89 years of exemplary service; and
910 WHEREAS, YCT is a nonpartisan and independent youth
1011 organization dedicated to protecting the rights outlined in the
1112 Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and promoting
1213 such principles as limited government, state sovereignty, free
1314 enterprise, and a strong national defense; the group has been
1415 especially active on college campuses, inspiring young people to
1516 become involved in politics and advocating for conservative
1617 candidates during primary and general elections; and
1718 WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout and a graduate of Rowlett High
1819 School, Mr. Morris earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in
1920 business administration and his master of science degree in
2021 management information systems from the Rawls College of Business
2122 at Texas Tech University; he was also a founding member of the Texas
2223 Tech chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization and
2324 webmaster of the Texas Tech chapter of the Association of
2425 Information Technology Professionals; since 2011, he has been an
2526 SQL server business intelligence specialist at the Argo software
2627 company in Richardson; and
2728 WHEREAS, Mr. Morris first served YCT as finance director from
2829 April to September 2010, and he went on to hold the posts of Texas
2930 Tech chapter chair from 2010 to 2011 and technology director from
3031 2010 to 2011; in November 2011, he became YCT's 23rd chair, and in
3132 that capacity, he has overseen its media relations, chapter
3233 development, and legislative rating program; moreover, he has
3334 raised funds for the group, managed its finances, planned the
3435 annual convention, and organized volunteer support for
3536 conservative candidates across the state; and
3637 WHEREAS, Mr. Morris's leadership, dedication, and commitment
3738 to conservative ideals have greatly benefited the Young
3839 Conservatives of Texas and earned him the respect and admiration of
3940 its members, and he may reflect with pride on his notable record of
4041 achievement as the organization's chair; now, therefore, be it
4142 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
4243 Legislature hereby congratulate Jeffrey Patrick Morris on his
4344 service as state chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas and
4445 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
4546 happiness; and, be it further
4647 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4748 prepared for Mr. Morris as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4849 House of Representatives.
