 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Ray Harrison retired as harbormaster of Port Corpus
 Christi on March 7, 2017, drawing to a close an outstanding career
 in the marine industry that spanned four decades; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Harrison began his tenure with Port Corpus
 Christi in 1978, when he accepted a position as an operations
 traffic control clerk in the harbormaster's office; promoted to
 vessel traffic control chief in 1993, he became assistant
 harbormaster in January 2011 and assumed the post of harbormaster
 the following December; and
 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest standards of his
 profession, Mr. Harrison has worked tirelessly to ensure the safe
 and efficient operation of the port while overseeing its busy
 vessel traffic network; he played an integral role in equipping the
 harbormaster's office with the original Klein traffic management
 and dispatch software system in 1995 and with the latest SAAB
 KleinPort system in 2012; this esteemed Texan has further
 contributed to the maritime industry as a member of the Harbor
 Safety Committee and the South Texas Waterways Advisory Committee;
 and
 WHEREAS, Ray Harrison's dedication, skill, and commitment to
 excellence have greatly benefited the Coastal Bend community, and
 he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Ray Harrison on his retirement as
 harbormaster of Port Corpus Christi and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Harrison as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
