| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Charles Abbott and Marjene Phelps, David |

| 9 | 10 | | Abbott was born in Plainview in 1954, and he grew up alongside his |

| 10 | 11 | | sister, Kathy, brother, Jimmy, and stepbrothers, Greg and J. R.; he |

| 11 | 12 | | graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1972 and went on to earn |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | a degree in Christian ministry at Southwestern Assemblies of God |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | University before following his call to pastoral service; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, While working at a church in Lubbock, Mr. Abbott met |

| 15 | 16 | | the love of his life, the former Lynnette Marshall, and the couple |

| 16 | 17 | | married in 1978; he became the father of three treasured sons, |

| 17 | 18 | | Joshua, Chance, and the late Matthew Abbott, as well as a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | grandfather to a cherished granddaughter, Eisley Dawn; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, various ministry positions led |

| 20 | 21 | | Mr. Abbott and his family to live in cities across Texas and in |

| 21 | 22 | | Colorado until 1993, when they decided to put down roots in Idalou; |

| 22 | 23 | | there, Mr. Abbott embarked on a new career as a carpenter and |

| 23 | 24 | | established a reputation for skilled craftsmanship in custom |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | cabinetry; in his spare time, he volunteered at the Lubbock Lions |

| 25 | 26 | | Club and enjoyed every available opportunity to hunt and fish; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, David Abbott was a devoted husband, a committed |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | father, and a friend to everyone he met, and he will forever be a |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | source of inspiration to all those who had the good fortune to know |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | him; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of David Abbott and |

| 32 | 33 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his loss; and, be it |
