45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the men and women
67 of the law enforcement profession, for by their selfless devotion
78 to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a
89 peaceful and orderly society; and
910 WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for
1011 granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant
1112 individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic
1213 tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and
1314 WHEREAS, Chief Darrell L. Allen of the Marlin Police
1415 Department exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the
1516 singular virtues of courage, integrity, and steadfast resolve, and
1617 throughout his 20 years, 5 months on the force, his meritorious
1718 service embodied the highest ideals of his vocation; and
1819 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan, who was killed on November 10,
1920 2015, while working an off-duty security assignment, will long be
2021 missed by his family, his fellow peace officers, and the entire
2122 community; and
2223 WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Chief Allen has
2324 left behind a record of public service that is deserving of his
2425 fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be
2526 it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Chief Darrell L. Allen
2829 and extend deepest sympathy to his relatives, friends, and fellow
2930 officers; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3233 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Chief
3334 Darrell L. Allen.
