| 7 | 8 | | to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for |

| 10 | 11 | | granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant |

| 11 | 12 | | individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic |

| 12 | 13 | | tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Chief Darrell L. Allen of the Marlin Police |

| 14 | 15 | | Department exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | singular virtues of courage, integrity, and steadfast resolve, and |

| 16 | 17 | | throughout his 20 years, 5 months on the force, his meritorious |

| 17 | 18 | | service embodied the highest ideals of his vocation; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan, who was killed on November 10, |

| 19 | 20 | | 2015, while working an off-duty security assignment, will long be |

| 20 | 21 | | missed by his family, his fellow peace officers, and the entire |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | community; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Chief Allen has |

| 23 | 24 | | left behind a record of public service that is deserving of his |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Chief Darrell L. Allen |
