5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the men and women |

6 | 7 | | of the law enforcement profession, for by their selfless devotion |

7 | 8 | | to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a |

8 | 9 | | peaceful and orderly society; and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for |
---|
10 | 11 | | granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant |
---|
11 | 12 | | individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic |
---|
12 | 13 | | tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Officer David S. Hofer of the Euless Police |
---|
14 | 15 | | Department exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the |
---|
15 | 16 | | singular virtues of courage, integrity, and steadfast resolve, and |
---|
16 | 17 | | throughout his two years on the force, his meritorious service |
---|
17 | 18 | | embodied the highest ideals of his vocation; and |

18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on March 1, 2016, Officer |
---|
19 | 20 | | Hofer will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace officers, |

20 | 21 | | and the entire community; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Officer Hofer |

22 | 23 | | left behind a record of public service that is deserving of his |

23 | 24 | | fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be |

25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer David S. Hofer |

27 | 28 | | and extend deepest sympathy to his relatives, friends, and fellow |

28 | 29 | | officers; and, be it further |
