| 7 | 8 | | to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for |

| 10 | 11 | | granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant |

| 11 | 12 | | individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic |

| 12 | 13 | | tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Christopher Dan Kelley of the Hutto Police |

| 14 | 15 | | Department exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the |

| 15 | 16 | | singular virtues of courage, integrity, and steadfast resolve, and |

| 16 | 17 | | throughout his 10 years, 4 months on the force, his meritorious |

| 17 | 18 | | service embodied the highest ideals of his vocation; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on June 24, 2015, Sergeant |

| 19 | 20 | | Kelley will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace officers, |

| 20 | 21 | | and the entire community; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Sergeant Kelley |

| 22 | 23 | | left behind a record of public service that is deserving of his |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
